The 78-L mailing list, (Formerly at Cornell University)
78-L is a discussion group devoted to music and recordings of the pre-LP era. The list is open to collectors and lovers of all kinds of music of this era, such as early jazz and blues, big bands, show music, vaudeville, classical, etc., as well as spoken word and other historical recordings.
Discussion is welcome on recording history, discography, the
collectors' market, and vintage phonographs. The group is not slanted
toward any particular type of music or collector interest. Whether you're
into cylinders or discs, vintage jazz or big bands, cranking up a victrola
or playing your records through modern stereo equipment, your participation is welcomed. The common element is that what we listen to was recorded at (or near) 78 rpm.

The Old Time Radio mailing list
Before the advent of television, there was still a source of moving pictures. It was called RADIO. But unlike television, the pictures we all saw in our minds were different for each "viewer". That was the magic - the magic of imagination. We created our own pictures, we invented the color, the sights, the scenery... all from sound alone.
OTR Digest is dedicated to discussions of those wonderful radio days and the
preservation of those great shows. Whether you remember listening to the originals, or would like to experience programming much different from today's music and talk radio formats, then the OTR Digest is for you.
